Liberian Elections

Our thoughts and prayers are with our friends in Liberia as we celebrate a peaceful election day! Yesterday (October 11, 2011) marked the second democratic election in Liberia since the bloody civil war ended in 2003. The momentous day proceeded smoothly and peacefully, prompting accolades from the UN and other foreign outlets. However, we must continue to pray that peace reigns as the votes are counted. Early poll results show that the incumbent and Nobel Peace prize laureate (Ellen Johnson Sirleaf) holds a small lead against her primary opponent Harvard graduate Winston Tubman. This close race will likely end in a run-off election on November 8.


Please join us in prayer as we lift up the country of Liberia and its people in this pivotal time in their history. May peace reign in this place.
