Isaiah 58:10

...If you spend yourselves in behalf of the hungry
and satisfy the needs of the oppressed,
then your light will rise in the darkness,
and your night will become like the noonday.

Pray for JoJo!

Hi, everyone.
Just a quick update today, along with a pretty desperate plea for prayer.
One of the girls in the orphanage, a beautiful little thing named Josephine, is very, very sick. She has sickle cell anemia, and although she has medication to treat it, Emmanuel and Fatu can only afford it sporadically. Usually when she becomes sick, they buy the medication and she snaps out of it. But she is not snapping out of it right now... Yesterday she napped on a blanket for most of the day while we swam in the ocean and played with the kids. She also has no appetite, and is so skinny her tiny arms are the size of sticks. Right now, Fatu and Julie are with Josephine in the hospital, and we’re not sure if she’ll need more medication, a blood transfusion, or even a hospital stay. Julie has assured us that the situation is very critical, and that if Josephine doesn’t get her illness under control she may very well die from it.
Please pray for JoJo! We had no idea she was so sick, and are even now making plans for her long-term care. Illness just seems like an acceptable part of life here, but some of the illnesses that the children are suffering from are more serious than we realized and definitely require our attention.
I’ll keep you updated, but for now, just pray that JoJo recovers quickly. We know that she is very ill because she has not responded to her medication... And we don’t know what the next step will be.
Prayer changes things. Prayer can heal JoJo.

With love,
Nicole
